Halloween Is Upon Us!

It’s only a day away!

Some folks get pretty excited about Halloween, they plan their costumes ahead of time, stock up on candy and Halloween treats, and decorate their house for the holiday. Others prefer to go the simple route with last minute costumes, a few bags of candy and a carved pumpkin or two. Either way, this the season to be scary! (In varying forms of course)

Byron and I tend to opt for the less scary, more classic Halloween costumes. In general we’re not big into anything that might give us a fright, we stick to Disney’s version of Halloween, or maybe the Peanuts rendition.

This year we don’t really have much planned. As busy as we’ve been, we just simply haven’t had the time or energy to put into finding good costumes or decorating! With that being said, we will probably do what a large majority of people do the day before Halloween… go digging through their closets and look for the easiest costume to put together with items they already have. No shame there! Money and time saved!

(IF you can find the right stuff to make the costume you want that it…)

BayMaxx is returning to the Halloween scene rocking the same costume he hated last year… he’s going as an adorable but awkward TurtlePit.

On a more serious note…

Some people like to go all out with their holiday traditions, and some choose to make a minimal effort. This is a common situation found with customers and their plumbing problems as well, however, occasionally plumbing disasters happen and customers find they have no choice but to go “all in” in order to fix the issue!
Whether you’re “all in” from the start, or simply because you’ve run out of options, or maybe you have a few minor plumbing problems that need to be fixed, give us a call or text at (941)504-3578 and we’ll be more than happy to come out, look over everything, and provide you with a free estimate! We’re here to help, and we’re excellent at our jobs, so don’t hesitate to reach out!

National Day’s with Bay

Today is
National Make A Dog’s Day!

National Calendar- Oct. 22, 2019

Hello everyone, I’m BayMaxx, Next Level Plumbing’s biggest fan, mascot, office guard dog, and couch potato! If we haven’t met yet, I’ll tell you a bit about myself before the blog begins. I’m probably intimidating from afar, and I can have a scary bark, but I’m the nicest Golden American Staffy you’ll ever meet!

I love my humans a WHOLE lot and like to follow them around wherever they go because I’m happiest when I’m close to the people I love. I can’t help but wag my tail whenever my mom smiles at me and I’m very good at listening (especially when dad tells me to do something!)

My favorite thing to do is play with my toys, lay in the sun, and make people smile! So it makes sense that I’m the one sharing with you today!

Did you know today is National Make A Dog’s Day?!

Many people don’t know about fun, special holidays like this one, and that what makes using a National Day Calendar so much fun! It gives us the opportunity to celebrate something everyday!

#MakeADog’sDay

This National Day was founded by Subaru as a part of “Subaru loves Pets” month in October and collaborates with the ASPCA in an effort to raise awareness for pet adoption! They hope to show the world how good it feels to make a dog’s day, and I think it’s a wonderful idea! They want everyone to use this special day to show thanks for the pets that love, protect, and support their humans while making the world a better place to live in.

But how can we celebrate this special day?

As a special pup myself I would recommend going outside and doing something fun with your pet! Return some of the love we’re constantly sharing with you by doing something we love with us! Whether that’s a car ride, a game of fetch in the park, a chance to splash in the ocean or a puddle, or a cuddle session on the couch- whatever makes your pup/pet happiest!

Have a happy rest of the week, I’ll see you next time!

Lots of love! -BayMaxx

DIY: Repel the Smell!

Repel The Smell!

Did your house have a nasty stoppage that your plumber just cleared for you?

Or is there another reason that your house has an unpleasant smell you can’t quite get rid of?

Here are 5 great ways to repel the smell and ensure your house is fresh and free from bad odors!

1. Diffuse Essential Oils!

You might know all about essential oils by now, or perhaps its still unfamiliar territory to you, but essential oils are good for the body, mind, soul, and home! If you’re new to the game, go ahead and invest in one or two good essential oil diffusers as well as some cleansing scented oils such as Lemon, Mint, Rosemary, Tea Tree, or a “Cleansing Blend.” There are many different types of essential oil brands out there. Some are very low quality and therefore less effective and good for you and your family. By choosing higher quality oils from brands like “Young Living” and “Piping Rock” you’re taking the safe and healthy route! To help your house smell fresh diffuse these oils in whichever location you want! I usually diffuse one in the living room or kitchen and the other in the main bedroom!

2. Invest In a Good Air Purifier!

A good air purifier is a HUGE help when maintaining a healthy, happy household. Air purifiers are meant to clear the allergens from the air as well as whatever pollutants might be floating around in your home. They work quietly and efficiently and usually need to have their filters replaced every month or so. Kids sick? House feels dirty? Bad odor you cant get rid of somewhere in the house? Using a air purifier will help! Make sure to do your research and get one that is good so it doesn’t break or fail you when you need it most!

3. Make a Stove Simmer!

Not familiar with this? Basically what you’re making here is like a diffuser, but potpourri style on the stove! By putting various ingredients into a pot of water and letting it simmer on the stove, it will spread a nice, natural aroma throughout the house! My personal favorite recipe for this is a simple one! Just use pinecones, apples and cinnamon!

4. Clean Out Your Garbage Disposal!

This is a pretty common sense suggestion. If your kitchen is starting to smell a bit off, checking your garbage disposal and cleaning it is always a good idea! If you don’t have a garbage disposal than making sure your fridge doesn’t have anything going bad in it, taking out the trash, and doing the dishes all are good ways to make sure there isn’t a bad smell coming from them! Still smelling off? Try some of the other suggestions listed here to help eliminate the odor!

5. Place Candles Throughout the House!

Putting candles throughout the house not only helps everything smell better, it also boosts the ambience of the room too! Not a fan of strong smells or using candles? Put live plants around the house can help keep the air cleaner and create a fresher living space as well! Some great house plants you can incorporate throughout your home are: peace lily, aloe vera, bamboo palms, spider plants, and cacti!

PSA: Nat’l Boss’s Day!

Yesterday was National Boss’s Day!

National Calendar- Boss’s Day

Did You Know?! Did you celebrate your boss???

October 16th was a special day on my calendar, but it’s probably a day many others don’t know about or choose to celebrate.

Why?

Not everyone knows there’s a day out there just for celebrating your boss, if they do know, they might not WANT to celebrate their boss, or maybe they just aren’t on good enough terms to stroll over and give their boss a big ol’ hug. Whatever the situation is, it’s ok! Luckily for me, my boss is my husband!

I love being asked what my job is, because it allows me to explain that I’m employed by my handsome hard-working husband! Ironically, after I say I work for my husband, they ask what the business is, or what my husband does, to which I reply, “He owns Next Level Plumbing!” However, while most people acknowledge and even appreciate the hard work they do and money plumbers can make, they don’t usually have the best immediate perception of plumbers as individuals.

Byron definitely doesn’t look like a plumber according to basically everyone (from friends to new customers) so when they meet him they’re usually taken aback by his neat, clean cut look and quiet, exceptionally polite and professional manners. This is one reason I’m always proud of my boss, because he exceeds expectations and always goes above and beyond in everything he does, not just in running his business!

There’s no doubt about it, Byron is exceptional at his job, which is why he started Next Level Plumbing! But I’m really not writing this blog to solely brag on Byron and the hard work he puts into making Next Level Plumbing so “next level”… I’m also writing this as a reminder to everyone out there to take the time to appreciate and be thankful for their bosses, or really, whoever is helping lead them in the business they’re in, or the job they do! If you’re your own boss, then give yourself a well-deserved hug!

So on that note, it’s not too late! Send your boss an air hug (that they know about- secretly doing it is nice, but not as effective), a “thank you” call or text, grab them a cup of coffee, or let them know how much they’re appreciated for their hard work! You might be surprised how much they appreciate that an employee is going out of their way for them!
Let them know their work and effort is valued!

Nat’l Savings Day

It’s National Savings Day!

Are you good at saving money? Setting part of your paycheck aside each week or month and saving towards a goal, or something you need?

If not then keep reading for some advice from a professional on what you’ll need to be prepared for when it comes to plumbing costs you’re sure to encounter in the future.

Coming from the plumber himself, here are a few great ways Byron suggests to save money on your plumbing, all in honor of Nat’l Savings Day!

Plumbing emergencies are never fun, but what can make them even worse is when you aren’t financially prepared to handle the emergency when it shows up at your doorstep. Below are 3 different plumbing related situations you’ll want to be financially prepared for, and a bit of advice on what you can do to save up for them!

Repairing/Replacing a Water Heater…

Most residential water heaters will last you for 10-12 years, but knowing the lifespan of your water heater is always a good idea, especially if you’re moving into a new house. A new tank style water heater is usually between $1,000-$2,000 to install, so if you know you’re water heater is old, or will need to be replaced soon, start saving!

Considering a Remodel?

If you are considering a remodel at some point in the future, START SAVING NOW! Setting aside money is obviously a good idea when you’re looking ahead at doing a remodel, but aside from saving, make sure you do your research to see just how much you’ll need to be saving as well! Getting a price range will be tricky, learn what you can and ask for advice, help from professionals!

Installing New Water Filtration…

Installing a nice new water filtration system is something that can really improve the quality of your home life! Curious about it? These systems can end up being between $500- $5,000 depending on what you choose, so its best to talk to your plumber about what option is best for your home!

As always never hesitate to give us a call or text at 941-504-3578! Feel free to reach out through email as well, you can contact us at nextlevelplumbingllc@gmail.com! Whether you’re coming back for the winter or live here year around we’ll be more than happy to help you with any plumbing problems you may have!

Finding Fall in Florida!

Finding Fall in Florida can be a difficult thing to do!

We all know that 99.9% of the time Florida looks like this…

But there is usually a moment or two in what we Floridians call “Fall” where the temperature drops below 80 degrees and we start doing this…

However, due to the weather lately, we’re not there yet… so those of us desperate to feel the “autumnal vibes” have to resort to making our own “Fall” atmosphere.

Here are a few places, activities and things you can use to make Fall feel a bit more real for you and your family!

Stop by a Hobby Lobby near you and browse through their Fall/Autumn section!

You’re bound to come away with something to make your house feel a bit more seasonal! (I basically want to buy everything when I go in there, so good luck, its as dangerous as Target!) No Hobby Lobby near you? You can stop by a Home Goods as well!

Turn an episode of Moving Art on via your TV courtesy of Netflix!

There are a few perfect Fall episodes in Season 1 that lead you through a 1/2 hour of beautiful scenery accompanied by peaceful music to match the mood. Once you’ve watched it, you’ll find yourself going back to turn it on a lot more often! It’s great in the background for any and every occasion!

Visit a store that stocks up on Fall goodies and stock up yourself!

There are lots of stores in town that understand the dilemma Floridians have during Fall, so they kindly prepare lots of Fall goodies for us to buy so we feel better about it! If you haven’t already, stop by Lucky’s, Detweiler’s, or Trader Joe’s for wonderful seasonal treats of all kinds!

Visit a Pumpkin Festival!

Pumpkin Festivals start popping up right around now and continue through the end of the month, and they provide the perfect opportunity to go and feel “Fall-ish” with your friends and family! Stroll around, enjoy the activities at the festival, pick a pumpkin out, chomp on some kettle corn or a caramel apple, and pretend its 20 degrees cooler than it actually is!

Stock up on Fall scented candles!

I’m convinced you can never have enough Fall scented candles! I LIVE for that apple orchard scent, or a good fresh apple pumpkin candle, even better… a CINNAMON candle! Need a good place to find quality, inexpensive candles? I search through places like Beall’s Outlet, Ollie’s, and even the Dollar General! Not wanting to go the candle route, but still want that magical fall scent in your house? Look up some Fall Essential Oil blends!

Last but not least… Buy a Cinnamon Broom!

Or two, or three! I bought two small ones- for the guest bathroom, and my car, and a large one for the living room! If your a Fall cinnamon lover… this is a MUST! They bring such a wonderful scent to whatever area you place them in, and once they’ve served their purpose they’re fun to toss in the bonfire and smell/watch as they crackle away! I found my cinnamon brooms at Publix!

As always never hesitate to give us a call or text at 941-504-3578! Or shoot us an email at nextlevelplumbingllc@gmail.com! Whether you’re coming back for the winter or live here year around we’ll be more than happy to help you with any plumbing problems you may have!

Pumpkin Seeds Please!

It’s National Pumpkin Seed Day!

Are you a fan of pumpkin seeds? Pumpkin pie? Pumpkin flavored treats? Pumpkin scented candles? Pumpkins in general? If you are, then today is a great day to celebrate! ESPECIALLY If you have pumpkins waiting to be carved or cooked!

I have a hard time turning down a cute looking pumpkin… it may sound strange to you, but if I go to the store once pumpkins have gone on sale, and I see one that is just BEGGING to be taken home…. I can’t ignore it! Just ask anyone who knows me… An alien has probably taken over my body if I walk past a patch of pumpkins without perusing.

Since it’s officially Fall, and autumnal treats are even more enjoyable once the fall festivities have begun, we wanted to share why WE think today is a great day to celebrate!

Happy National Pumpkin Seed Day everyone!

Need a reason to celebrate this day???

1. Pumpkin seeds are good for you!

2. These tasty seeds are traditionally used to kill parasites, reduce inflammation, lower cholesterol levels, and promote good sleep! They are also high in protein and zinc, filled with minerals, and are the only seed that is alkaline-forming!

PLUS it’s fun to carve pumpkins during Fall! It’s a favorite activity once October rolls around for many of us! Once you’ve had a blast carving the pumpkins and making a mess, you can enjoy the view of the Jack O’ Lanterns whilst someone roasts the seeds to enjoy for days to come!

Need a pumpkin seed recipe!? No worries!

Here’s the one we use- it’s a family favorite!

For the best tasting, crunchy, salty snack this side of Halloween (that’s pretty healthy too) check out the recipe below!

There are 3 IMPORTANT STEPS you don’t want to forget!

  1. Clean the pumpkin seeds Super Well! You want to wash them until you don’t see any pumpkin fibers in the mix, use a colander and give them more than two rinses!

  2.  Boil the pumpkin seeds before roasting them! This is something I didn’t do in the past, and BOY does it make a difference! It helps them cook more thoroughly and provides that crunch once they’ve finished cooking.

  3.  Keep an eye on the seeds as they’re baking! Every 10 minutes pull out the seeds and move them around on their baking tray, if you don’t do this you will probably have quite a few burnt seeds in the end.

The Ingredients:

  • Seeds from 2 large pumpkins

  •  1/2 teaspoon Lawry’s Seasoned Salt (this is what the recipe calls for but I Definitely use more)

  •  1/2 tablespoon of olive oil (again I adjust depending on how many pumpkin seeds I have)

  • Dash of salt

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Soak the CLEAN pumpkin seeds in a large bowl of water for 1/2 hour sitting out, or overnight in the fridge. ONce that’s done, drain the water and put the seeds into a pot filled enough to cover the seeds and add a dash of salt. Bring the water to a boil and make sure the seeds have been gently boiled in the pot for around 10 minutes. Once your seeds have been boiled, drain the water out and place the seeds back into a bowl. Toss the seeds with olive oil then lay them out in a thin layer on the cookie sheet (I line mine with tinfoil, less mess). Sprinkle the Lawry’s salt over the seeds to suit your taste (as much as you think is necessary, don’t worry you can add more as you cook them and check every 10 minutes). Once this is done they’re ready to be cooked! Seeds are normally done after about 40 minutes or so when they become firm and aren’t soft anymore. You’ll want to regularly check every ten minutes to test them. What you Don’t want is dark spots on them, you should be looking for them to become a darker yellow. Once removed from the oven and cooled put them in a mason jar or food safe container and enjoy!

These tasty homemade pumpkin seeds will be sure to put smiles on every face, and maybe it will become an annual tradition in the years to come!

If you’re not a fan of pumpkin seeds or fall treats (I can’t imagine who isn’t but to each their own) then don’t worry! You can still get something out of reading this blog! There are plenty of other days to celebrate, and you’re sure to find one you can be all in for soon enough! You can keep an eye out for more fun and unique days to celebrate by following along on our blog here, or by keeping track yourself using the National Day Calendar.
