Looking Ahead at 2020

2020 Is Just Around The Corner!

This year has flown by, it’s hard to believe 2020 is only a few days away! A lot of things have happened this past year, but the biggest change for Next Level Plumbing was that we bought another truck and put Byron’s brother (an excellent & experienced plumber also) in it!

By growing the business we are slowly and carefully taking steps towards our future goals! It’s exciting, motivating, a little bit daunting… but with Byron’s passion, experience, and determination Next Level Plumbing is continuing to become more and more “next level.”

Throughout 2020 we will be working hard to continue providing positive experiences as well as maintaining our Next Level reputation!

What are some goals or things you plan to work towards this upcoming year?

Sometimes, when setting goals it’s good to look back a bit and reflect on what last years goals were, and what you accomplished over the past year. This can help you set realistic expectations and reasonable goals for yourself this year!

Curious about Next Level Plumbing, where we came from, and what our goals are? Feel free to check out the blogs shared below, written by Next Level Plumbing’s owner and master plumber, Byron Thomson!

These “Revolutionizing the Industry” blogs from Byron really helped us set the tone for starting this business and are great for us to look back and reflect on when setting goals for the upcoming years as well! Maybe they will help you to understand our vision and Byron’s passion for revolutionizing and improving upon the image, quality of work, customer experiences, and reputation of the plumbing industry.

Adding More “Scents” to Your Christmas!

Merry Christmas Eve!

Today we’re re-sharing with you a flashback from last years holiday season, but it’s definitely one worth repeating! Sharing some of her favorite holiday essential oil blends with you today we have the amazing artist, blogger, teacher, equestrian, and mother- Debbie Herbert!

My mom is incredible at so many things, and she offered to be NLP’s guest blogger for today! Please enjoy as she takes over and shares her favorite holiday diffuser blends!

There is nothing that says “it’s the holidays!” more than stepping into a home filled with the sweet smells of Christmas baking!

Or for that matter…who doesn’t love the smell of a fresh cut fir tree and apple cider filling the air? Either your olfactory glands are completely out of order or your personality may resemble that fabled green guy who eventually wondered, “can there really be more to Christmas than presents?” After all your hard work baking, shopping and decorating, there’s really a very simple way to make your home perfectly inviting.

The answer? Essential oil diffusing! So easy and with the added benefit of avoiding commercial noxious chemicals found in cheap candles and sprays.
Let’s talk about some fun E.O. holiday ideas. If you don’t have a serious essential oil collection like some of us do (my daughter tells her friends I’m the E.O.”queen”), you can easily start with something you may already have in your pantry!

1. Stove top holiday potpourri.

In a saucepan combine an orange or apple thinly sliced with a couple of sticks of cinnamon and a few drops of French vanilla or peppermint extract. Fill with several cups of water and simmer on the stove, adding water as necessary. The best thing next to fresh baked cookies smell!

2. Add a few drops of Holiday Blend from Doterra, or other reputable E.O. company to a portable diffuser like this one.

Battery operated, silent and practical…it emits a lovely holiday scent without overpowering the whole house. This little one was picked up at Whole Foods, but you can find them most anywhere!

3. Plug in a scented wax melt like this nice little one…handy for the guest bathroom!

4. To ensure germs are squashed before they do their nasty work, you can diffuse a blend called Thieves. If you’re a do it yourself type, you can easily create your own Thieves blend from 4 or 5 individual oils. Recipes abound on Pinterest!

5. Finally, for no fuss and a subtle hint of scent in the air, add one drop of either peppermint, orange, lavender or vanilla onto a lightbulb! The warmth will diffuse the oil without overpowering a room. Once you’ve started diffusing a few oils, you may want to start a collection.

Some of my favorite companies are the aforementioned Doterra, Eden’s Garden.com and Piping Rock.com.
Who know…you may even become the next Essential Oil Royalty!

Merry Christmas!

Our Winter VS Their Winter

Christmas In Florida!

What THEY have to worry about VS what WE have to worry about during this time of year!

We’ve gotta admit, we’re pretty lucky to be living in Florida, especially when we take into account that around this time in many other areas of the country it is freezing cold, and in my opinion rather miserable outside! Florida winters provide various perks for us that we might not even recognize unless someone reminds us about them.

For instance…

The Plumbing Up North VS The Plumbing in FL during the winter!

Plumbing differs depending where you live, and it makes sense because up north the weather effects the water, and that obviously effects the plumbing too! Pipes can freeze up there (which is why there are plumbing products made so as to minimize freezing pipes and so on) and because of that installation is done differently too!

The ground can also freeze upstate, which means it can be difficult to dig and do various plumbing jobs because of it!

If you happen to get snowed in, this can cause problems too! You’ll have to wait for that plumber to get to you until the roads are cleared!

If you plan to escape the freezing northern winters you’ll also need to take into consideration how long you’ll be gone, you don’t want the water inside your house to freeze up, so that might mean leaving on the heat or some other preparation.

How about down here in sunny Florida? According to Byron who’s plumbed in the Sarasota area for over 15 years, he’s never seen pipes freeze up in our Florida winters, so that’s something we can be thankful for! On top of that, Byron’s glad he doesn’t have to shake ice off his boots when working at a job where he has to go in and out of the house often, for Florida winters- ice no, but possibly mud! The only things that can really cause an issue to plumbing here are hurricanes or the occasional overwhelming amount of rain we can get!

Basically, we can be thankful for our mild winters and build sandmen at the beach in our bathing suits while our northern neighbors bundle up and experience the real winter weather! Though us Floridians might get a bit jealous due to lack of holiday cheer (aka no snow, Christmas trees to cut down, etc) we’ve got a pretty sweet gig going for us here! Don’t forget about the many blessings in your life this holiday season!

Thanksgiving Thoughts!

Have you ever noticed???

There’s so much to be thankful for! And Thanksgiving is right around the corner!

As we prepare for this Thanksgiving we wanted to write a blog devoted to all of the blessings in our lives, and the many reasons we have to be thankful!

This has been one busy and exciting month! We’ve traveled quite a bit, had lots of big things happen on both the business side of life, and on the personal side! Byron’s birthday was this week; we spent quality time with friends and family, went on some extremely fun adventures, and also get some things checked off the old to-do list! It’s been a hectic but wonderful week of transitions from birthdays into holidays! What a blessing!

Do you have any traditions for Thanksgiving?

Our families always get together for a huge Thanksgiving meal, the boys often play football afterwards, and it’s just the most wholesome, enjoyable time! Then we spend the day after Thanksgiving celebrating again with the other side of the family!! I have a personal tradition of watching the seasonal Charlie Brown shows, so “The Great Pumpkin” was for Halloween, the Thanksgiving episode will be played this week, and soon “It’s Christmas, Charlie Brown!” will be playing! I love the classic feel that those shows add to the holidays!

During all the hectic moments we still need to remember to pause and take the time to reflect on what is important in our lives. Family, the business (Next Level Plumbing), making steps towards our future as a family, good weather, great customers, the adventures we get to go on, and our health are just a few priceless pieces to the puzzle of our life! If I were to try to sit down and write out each blessing I was thankful for, I could be here all day!

Whether you’re celebrating the season, or doing something different, it never hurts to slow down and count your blessings. Finding things to be thankful for, even when times seem tough, can be a great perspective changer! Give it a try today and see what blessings surprise you!

Black Friday Preparations!

Black Friday is This Week!

For those of you who love the craziness of the people, the deals, and the sale hours, there’s the classic shopping experience of going out and fighting the crowds to find the deals you want!

Aaannddd for the introverts, or people who don’t want to wake up super early to go join the hordes of deal driven shoppers, there is the very cozy and convenient option of online shopping! Having grown in popularity for obvious reasons (see terrifying gif above) cyber shopping has expanded beyond offering savings only on cyber Monday, many deals can be found throughout the week now! Yay!

I’m a BIG fan of good deals and saving money. But since I’m a newer addition to the plumbing business, I started wondering, “Are there plumbing deals out there too? Deals for fixtures or plumbing accessories that you might not find on a regular basis except on Black Friday?” Well I did searched the web, asked around, and…

There’s Not.

Let me clarify, the hardware stores like Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc. have plenty of sales going on this year. But if your aiming to find plumbing fixtures that are built to last and are plumber approved, you’ll want to skip over those hardware store sales!

From what I’ve learned, plumbing supply stores like our local store- Gorman Gallery -provide what looks to be the same type of fixtures that Home Depot sells, but they can be at a more expensive price!

Why?

Because many popular brands like Moen and Kohler often create two versions of the same series faucet, however, the parts inside it can vary in quality depending on where you buy this fixture! So the ones you find at your local hardware store are made of parts that are not as high quality and will often fail you sooner rather than later.

Byron rarely recommends buying fixtures this way, and often will recommend buying them at a supply house like Gorman Gallery or through him (though the source is the same!)

Just like choosing good, high quality foods to sustain your body, or maybe buying the more expensive shoes because you know they were made well and will last longer; choosing to invest in the high quality fixtures instead of the lower priced, basic version will get you the best bang for your buck! In other words, what you put into it ($ vs. $$) directly influences what you get out of it! (A fixture failing faster vs. Better usage for a longer time)

While you prepare for you Black Friday shopping deals, consider the quality you want and if it matches the cost you invest in it! This goes for fixtures and so much more! Plumbing service included!

Hope your shopping & saving is successful this week!

As always, don’t hesitate to give us a call or text at 941-504-3578!

Whether it’s a last minute emergency, or something you want to schedule for later in the year, we’ll be more than happy to help you with any plumbing problems you may have!

Ways to Help Your Plumber: Part 1

Here’s one way to help out your plumber!

Take it from someone who knows- Byron is a master plumber who has been working in the Sarasota area for over 15 years, and he’s got some great advice from the plumber’s perspective!

As a plumbing technician who has been in the field for about 17 years, I have noticed a lot of things on the customer’s end that make it easier, or harder, on the plumber. One of these things is finding a house.

In any given week I could visit 15-25 houses. I put the address into the GPS, and follow it to the house. Most of the time this works well. Sometimes it can get very difficult to find the house.

One of the biggest difficulties in finding a house is the house number not being visible. The first thing I look at is the mailbox, because that is the easiest to locate. If the mailbox does not have numbers, I start looking over the garage doors for the house number. If the numbers aren’t there, or there is no garage, then I have to search the house itself.

Sometimes there is a number or two missing. As I don’t like to knock on the wrong door, I will usually pass that house and see what the numbers on either side look like, and do the math on if that house is the right one.

I always end up finding the house, but it can be a challenge. Now picture all of those difficulties I just mentioned, but I’m trying to find the house at night. Sometimes I have to stop the truck and shine a flashlight at the houses so I can the address at all! Of course, this is rather awkward to do, and I would really rather not be intrusive in that way.

One way to really help out your plumber, or any service professional for that matter, is to make sure your home address is easily visible driving down the street. If the numbers are not on the mailbox and are on the house somewhere, putting them where they are near an outdoor light can make all the difference in the world when I’m trying to find it.

It’s something to consider! If this blog helped you in any way, check out more of Byron’s blogs!

National Day’s with Bay(Maxx)

November 13th, 2019 is…
World Kindness Day!

Hello Friends!
I’m BayMaxx, a 4-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier and the unofficial mascot/office pup for Next Level Plumbing!

Did you know today is World Kindness Day? It is internationally observed, but you may not know about these special days if you do not use a National Day Calendar!

National Calendar- World Kindness Day

On this day everyone is encouraged to share kindness, even if you don’t feel like you want to! Have you ever noticed how kindness is infectious?? Or how animals can often recognize whether someone is a kind person? Most animals are a good judge of character! I always try to see the best in everyone, and by showing kindness to others, I often receive twice as much back in return!

Acts of kindness can be BIG or small, and sometimes the small, unexpected ones are the best! I LOVE an unexpected treat from my humans, and who doesn’t love a nice surprise from someone they care about?! When was the last time you showed a little unexpected kindness or appreciation for loved one or friend???

If you are looking for some ideas on how to show kindness to others on this special day, check out the “Random Acts of Kindness” website to get inspired and help kindness become the norm! It’s a great reality check for our sometimes introspective lifestyles and self-centered mindsets! Choose to step outside your bubble and share a bit of kindness today! You may be surprised to find kindness being returned where you least expect it!

Don’t forget to be kind to the people working to make your life better everyday as well!

Just A Text Away!

Only A Text Away- Plumber To Save The Day!

Life throws curve balls when you least expect them. Plumbing issues are curve balls that nobody wants aimed at them, but when it happens it can’t be ignored! That’s when communication comes into play, finding the right plumber can be tricky enough, but then getting someone out to you in a reasonable time frame? It’s even trickier.

Gracious, the struggle can be REAL.

Thank goodness for technology constantly improving and providing us various communication platforms! Many still appreciate that personal one-to-one communication you can receive by picking up the phone. However, when those of us who prefer the impersonal approach don’t succeed at contacting someone, we all come to the same conclusion, to try the more direct form of communication… the phone call.

Honestly a phone call still works best on many occasions, because so much of our world still relies on the phone call approach. But times (and technology) are changing so quickly that businesses need to catch up! Wouldn’t it be fantastic to contact your plumber and schedule for them to come save the day in a just a few minutes, no need to talk on the phone for ages and go back and forth trying to find a time that works???

Look no further than this list of reasons why we at Next Level Plumbing can work with you in a way that meets your needs!

Here’s what you can expect when you reach out to us!

How we respond:

Nat’l Stress Awareness Day

Did you know today is National Stress Awareness Day???

Nat’l Day Calendar

This national day aims to identify and reduce stress factors in everyone’s lives.

Which version of stressing out is your personal go to?

Do you get a bit angry?

Or do you hide the stress on the inside so no one can tell???

Do you worry a bunch?

Or do you just go to your happy place & pretend nothing’s wrong!?

Everyone displays & deals with the stresses of life differently, but I think we can all agree that life is better & happier when it’s stress-free!

However, some stress is good for us! It helps teach us to adapt to life’s constant changes. But too much stress can damage our relationships and cause health issues.

Today try to take a moment to identify the stressors in your life. Once you know the cause(s) of your stress it becomes easier to cut them out of your life or at least minimize them!

4 Ways to De-stress Today!

1. Exercise for a bit!

It’s been proven that some regular exercise each day can help you relax! Many people say that going to the gym or spending some time exercising is their favorite form of therapy!

2. Go ahead and worry about it!

But only for 10 minutes. Set a timer for yourself, think through why you’re worrying and all the possible outcomes of the situation, then when the timer ends, make sure to let go of your worries and set them aside to focus on the rest of your day.

3. Consider your eating habits!

Ever heard the phrase “You are what you eat”? By changing up your meals and implementing a healthier lifestyle your body will reward you and your stress may decrease as well! This suggestion goes hand in hand with adding exercise to your daily routine.

4. Count your blessings!

Sometimes stepping back and putting things into perspective can really help you recognize what matters in life.

Make an effort to create a stress-reducing routine to help you relax each day. Spend time with alone or with a pet, meditate with some peace and quiet, take a walk, soak in a bubble bath, go lift some weights, or do a bit of yoga!

Halloween Is Upon Us!

It’s only a day away!

Some folks get pretty excited about Halloween, they plan their costumes ahead of time, stock up on candy and Halloween treats, and decorate their house for the holiday. Others prefer to go the simple route with last minute costumes, a few bags of candy and a carved pumpkin or two. Either way, this the season to be scary! (In varying forms of course)

Byron and I tend to opt for the less scary, more classic Halloween costumes. In general we’re not big into anything that might give us a fright, we stick to Disney’s version of Halloween, or maybe the Peanuts rendition.

This year we don’t really have much planned. As busy as we’ve been, we just simply haven’t had the time or energy to put into finding good costumes or decorating! With that being said, we will probably do what a large majority of people do the day before Halloween… go digging through their closets and look for the easiest costume to put together with items they already have. No shame there! Money and time saved!

(IF you can find the right stuff to make the costume you want that it…)

BayMaxx is returning to the Halloween scene rocking the same costume he hated last year… he’s going as an adorable but awkward TurtlePit.

On a more serious note…

Some people like to go all out with their holiday traditions, and some choose to make a minimal effort. This is a common situation found with customers and their plumbing problems as well, however, occasionally plumbing disasters happen and customers find they have no choice but to go “all in” in order to fix the issue!
Whether you’re “all in” from the start, or simply because you’ve run out of options, or maybe you have a few minor plumbing problems that need to be fixed, give us a call or text at (941)504-3578 and we’ll be more than happy to come out, look over everything, and provide you with a free estimate! We’re here to help, and we’re excellent at our jobs, so don’t hesitate to reach out!
