Here in Florida we love our resident manatees!

Not only are they big lumps of peacefulness but they naturally bring a smile to most anyone’s face!

If you’ve had the chance to see manatees around here, whether at an aquarium or by lucky encounter while enjoying Sarasota’s lovely beaches and kayaking spots, then you know that they’re quite the hefty and happy souls!

We try to take care of them here in Sarasota, and around Florida, by protecting them with laws and reminding boaters to drive carefully through the water ways they share with the wildlife below.

If you haven’t seen our resident “mermaids” yet, I’m going to share a few ideal locations for admiring these gentle sea cows- up close and personal! (And if you’re not sure why I called them “mermaids” you can learn more about that here!

3 Perfect Places to Visit Manatees!

1. Mote Marine Aquarium! If you haven’t been, it’s worth the trip- especially for kids who love the ocean! There’s a special building to go see the manatees as well! Click this link to learn more: Mote Aquarium

2. South Florida Museum & Parker Manatee Aquarium! If you haven’t been here… GO! Even if it’s only for the manatees, you’ll also get to see tons of amazing historical and natural artifacts dating waaaayyy far back, learn super cool science stuff, and possibly catch an incredible show at the planetarium! (If you can’t  guess, I really like this place!) Click this link to learn more: South FL Museum

3. Take a trip into the great outdoors and see manatees in their natural habitat! According to locals, some of the best locations to catch these slow-moving souls munching on sea grass, are… The Canal between Tommy Bahamas & Lido Key; Ted Sperling Park; & in the Pansy Bayou. Not sure where these places are or how to get to them??? Check out this link for more details and go have an amazing adventure: The Best Places to See SRQ Manatees

Current Trends at NLP: The Common Courtesy Customer

Current Trends at Next Level Plumbing:

The Common Courtesy Customer

We see a lot of trends come in go in the plumbing industry, but some stay the same! One current trend we still see on a regular basis, is the very clear distinction between customers with common courtesy and those without!

Being in a service industry, we ALWAYS appreciate customers who show us common courtesy! It’s harder to come by these days than you think!

common courtesy

noun

Definition of common courtesy

: politeness that people can usually be expected to show

Here are some examples of common courtesy that Byron, our master plumber and NLP owner, has experienced!

1. One of the most helpful things can be as simple as being easy to work with when scheduling. It can be very difficult to accurately determine when exactly we will arrive at your house, and the understanding that sometimes the day doesn’t go as planned for the tech is a relief. We try hard to arrive on time to our appointments because we know you have a life and want to get on with it, but extending the extra courtesy of allowing for occasional timing changes can make a world of difference for the plumber.

2. Another helpful thing that is easy to forget is to clean out the cabinet that your plumber will be working in. We clean them out all the time so it isn’t a big deal when it isn’t done, but we always appreciate the customers that know we will be working in an area and clear it out first.

3. One easy thing to forget is to move your car if you, or someone else has to leave while the plumber is there. I always try to park out of the way so cars can go in and out as needed, but in tight places I’m forced to block someone in. It is always nice to know we need to switch vehicle spots before I am all set up and starting to work.

Obviously these are not usually huge deals, but it’s little things like this that can make your technician happier, and make his job go a little smoother!

At Next Level Plumbing we always do our best to be considerate and go the extra mile for our customers regardless of circumstances!

Simple Spring Plumbing DIY’s

It’s Officially Spring!

This means longer days with even more sunshine in the sunny state!

How can you be sure your plumbing will hold up during the upcoming seasons??

<div style=”width:100%;height:0;padding-bottom:56%;position:relative;”><iframe src=”https://ift.tt/2uji51O; width=”100%” height=”100%” style=”position:absolute” frameBorder=”0″ class=”giphy-embed” allowFullScreen></iframe></div><p><a href=”https://ift.tt/2FhLKxc GIPHY</a></p>

DIY and check these 3 important places in your house!

1. Since Spring Cleaning has officially begun, it’s a great opportunity to clear out under all the sinks in your house and check for leaks!

2. Your water heater has probably been working hard during the terrible Florida winters we have down here… (using a strong bit of sarcasm there- Florida doesn’t really have “winter” more like two or three days where we bundle up in 40 degree weather) so you should definitely give it a check, or think about making a monthly routine of giving it a quick look over.

Make use of that spring cleaning again and clear the area around the water heater while also checking for any leaks, puddles on the ground underneath it, rust, etc.

3. Next time you’re taking a stroll around your house, or if you’re taking the spring cleaning beyond the house and into the yard, take some time to check on your main shut off valve. Regularly testing if every month or so to make sure it shuts off and on properly can save you a lot of trouble if a plumbing emergency happens!

Current Trends: “Price Pushers”…

Current Trends We See at Next Level Plumbing… “Over the Phone Price Pushers”

Our opinion on it and the policy we follow!

Blog by NLP Owner & Master Plumber:

Byron Thomson

“Can you give me a price over the phone?”

We often get asked this question when customers call us. This is something that we have decided NOT to do, and here are a few reasons for that decision.

As the plumbing professional I know exactly what to look for when I’m looking at a job to determine how much it will cost. Sometimes things are pretty straightforward, but many times there are hidden things that can increase or decrease the time and parts involved in the specific job.

Because the average homeowner is not trained to look for these things they don’t always communicate the proper picture of the job for me. This means that if I price based on what they tell me and I find out that they missed something I would have to tell them the job will cost more than I had originally quoted them. This creates mistrust from the start and I don’t like that as a business owner and salesman in this industry.

Many companies will use an initial over the phone price as a tool to get in the door, but will then hit you with all sorts of upgrades, like a $99 stoppage, but that doesn’t include using a ladder, or taking a drain trap apart, or using a bigger machine, etc.

This seems like shady business practice to me and so I have chosen to simply go out and see the job myself. Then, when I quote the job, I know my price is right and you have the peace of mind of knowing that the quote you have is accurate.

Plus, you also get to meet the technician who will be working in your house.

Get Ready to Save Daylight & More!

Daylight Savings Returns on the 10th!

Are you ready!?

While you’re adjusting to these savings, are there any other household/home repairs (big or small) that if fixed could help you save money and time in the future??? There’s a lot that can go wrong and need repaired or replaced in homes these days…

We all like to save money, and that is no exception when it comes to plumbing. Here are a few ways to save money with your plumber.

Ask if you can have a discount for doing multiple things at once. Plumbers have to drive out to your house and that costs the plumber money, so they usually give discounts on multiple things done at once, depending on what those tasks are.

Install toilets that use less water. This costs money upfront, but it saves water for the rest of the life of the toilet. Ask your plumber what toilet fits best with your house as not all the toilets fit all types of houses the same.

If you have a problem over the weekend or late at night ask if it is cheaper during normal business hours. Companies have to pay their technicians overtime and so many pass that cost on to the customer. If you can wait till normal hours you may be able to save some money.

You can always buy your own products and that can sometimes save money. It is best though to consult with your plumber about it first. There are some products that are better to avoid and that is always good to talk to the plumber about.

Hope these tips help you save both time and money in the future!!! If you’re in need of a plumber and want a free estimate, you can reach out to us by calling or texting us at 941-504-3578, or by emailing us at nextlevelplumbingllc@gmail.com!
